Mothers Day March 18th 2012

March 3rd, 2012

This Mother’s Day, why not choose a unique gift from Leitrim Design House; a gift which will say “thank you” for everything. We have a wonderful selection of beautifully handmade and locally sourced, jewellery, luxury scarves, organic candles, glasswork, ceramics, tableware, paintings, prints sculpture and much more; we stock gifts to suit all budgets. Pop in and let us help you choose something special. Mothers Day is an opportunity to say thank you. It’s a great feeling when you have found that gift which really helps deliver your message of love and gratitude.

All mums love to be pampered so why not give some gorgeous scented candles from Brooke Shoals. Made with natural, sustainably sourced, soy wax they are kind to the environment and give a clean toxin-free burn. They are scented with a high level of fragrance oils and essential oils, to give a divine aroma that last and are hand-poured in Ireland to ensure consistent high quality. They have a 40 hour burn time and come individually packaged in a luxury ribbon-tied box.

Do you think your mum is a domestic goddess? She’ll no doubt enjoy Jennifer Slattery’s Embroidered Irish Linen collection. The imagery features drawings of cutlery and plates that once belonged to Jennifer’s grandmother, the drawings are embroidered by machine. These pieces are a refreshingly contemporary take on traditional Irish linen tableware. The collection can be mixed and matched and added to over time.Perhaps you feel your mum deserves to put her feet up. Why not give her a special Japanese style teapot withmatching bowls from ceramic artist Peter Fulop. And our 2012 collection from Sun Ceramics will add some colour to her cooking. Colourful and functional they bring a touch of the Mediterranean to an Irish kitchen. Or how about a recipe book from Barbara Hubert Hand Bookbindery

For the mum who adores her handbags, the gorgeous spring collection from Angela Hope offers the perfect accessory to add an essential touch of colour to any outfit. Angela’s rose and chrysanthemum brooches are far more original than a bunch of flowers. These colourful flower brooches last forever. A beautifully soft merino scarf with added 5% cashmere for a lovely soft feel against your skin from McNutts of Donegal is not only a practical gift but also incredibly spoiling. This Spring we are introducing a fabulous collection of scarves, rugs and baby rugs from Mc Nutts of Donegal Woollen Mills. Since 1953 Mc Nutts have been producing high quality, 100% woolen products. All goods are manufactured locally with knowledge and skill that has been handed down from generation to generation. The mill, now over 60 years old, is based in Downings, Co. Donegal.

For a small token of your love for your mum, our dainty ceramic hearts from Emer O Sullivan or Karo Art are wonderful little gifts. The Antique lace earrings or pendants designed by Erika Marks would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift for the jewellery lover. We have lots to choose from at all price points. So pop in and see us and give your mum something original and Irish this Christmas

Janice Louise Byrne from Jlb Jewellery

Jewellery…It’s what I do. It’s what I love to do. I could never see myself doing anything else. For the past 15 years I’ve been on a journey to be the best that I can be, and I know I am still not there.. So much more to learn… Everyday is a learning curve. Everyday is a joy. To sit at my bench and just do what is natural to me has to be the best job in the world… Apart from being a mum of course… I feel blessed that I have the pleasure to do everyday something that gives me such satisfaction. I don’t always have a big fancy story behind what I make, but sometimes it just doesn’t need it, the work speaks for itself… I take my inspiration from many things…. Things I have loved throughout my life… Things that interest me. I like to challenge people’s perceptions. I like to educate..
